We see a lot of HIPAA violations inadvertently sometimes, but sometimes not. For example, there will be employees within a medical profession who has a relative call them and say, “Hey, can you pull up my file and see what prescription I’m supposed to have just as a quick favor,” and that’s a HIPAA violation, and so another employee will see that happening regularly and call it out to them. Then it becomes a, “Well, I’m just doing it as a favor.” The other employee says, “It’s against the law.”
