Jessica Valentin is an associate attorney at Burruezo & Burruzeo, PLLC. She originally joined Burruezo & Burruezo in 2021 as a legal intern. Since joining the firm, she has focused on several aspects of employment and labor law, including discrimination and wage and hour disputes.

Jessica is a South Florida native. She attended the University of Central Florida where she earned her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree. Prior to attending law school, Jessica worked for over two years at a major Central Florida personal injury law firm as a Litigation Assistant where she gained exposure to the process of litigating cases. Jessica received her Juris Doctorate from Stetson University College of Law, where she was a member of their award winning Dispute Resolution Board. While at Stetson Law, Jessica spent her first summer interning at Bay Area Legal Services, a non-profit law firm. She also interned at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), where she worked directly on a variety of employment cases, involving Title VII, ADA, and EPA matters. Jessica gained more practical experience through her internship at Ucari, Inc. where she was exposed to HR compliance and best practices for the workplace. Jessica’s calm and empathetic approach to employment, coupled with her extensive knowledge on workplace issues, makes her a unique attorney that is always trying to protect employers and employees.
Family and Education
Jessica was born in New Jersey and is of Haitian descent. Her father was born and raised in Les Cayes, Haiti, while her mother originates from Gonaïves, Haiti. Her parents met and fell in love in New Jersey where they chose to immigrate and raise their family. Jessica’s father worked as a chef and eventually held a 35 year career as a life insurance agent before retiring. Jessica’s mother started off her career working the graveyard shift in a nursing home. After years of schooling, she became a nurse and has been in the profession for over 29 years. In 2000, Jessica and her family moved to South Florida, where she considers herself a native. From 2011-2017, Jessica attended the University of Central Florida, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree, double majoring in Political Science and Sociology and her Master of Arts Degree in Applied Sociology. After working for two years in the legal field, Jessica returned to school to earn her Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law, graduating a semester early. She is the first in her family to hold an advanced degree.
